What you’ll be doing…

The Project Coordinator will assist Research Scientists in meeting their applied research obligations related to external grants and contract funding. He/She will also assist NSCC Research Scientists in the development and implementation of applied research collaborations with industry partners. On a daily basis, this position involves working externally with industry and other business partners and includes internal interaction with faculty, staff and students to meet the milestones and deliverables on research project contracts. This position enables full utilization of the advanced manufacturing equipment in the Design & Innovation Centre (DIC) to support student learning and applied research activities.

Minimum qualifications:

  • You possess a current Inter-provincial Journeyperson status in the Machining Trade or have a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum experience:

  • Minimum of five years recent and relevant occupational experience in the Machining or Mechanical Engineering trade, with experience in CNC Machining.

Minimum skills and ability:

  • Familiarity with relevant computer applications in MS operating system and email

  • Knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety.

  • Working knowledge of manual lathes, mills, drill presses and CNC equipment – milling and turning centers.

  • Working knowledge of manual and conventional machining equipment, willingness to be placed in different aspects of machining environment.

  • Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and known for your time management and financial tracking skills.

  • Your demonstrated ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds and knowledge, along with superb presentation, interpersonal and team building skills, make you an ideal candidate.

  • Working knowledge of MasterCam software would be considered an asset.
