Atlantic Radiator (Windsor, NS) - Mechanic
JOB TITLE: Mechanic
REPORTS TO: Owner
LOCATION: Atlantic Radiator 1394 King St. Windsor
POSITION SUMMARY
As the main function of our business is Vehicle repair, the mechanic is an integral part of our team. They are responsible for the complete repair to vehicles and completion of regular vehicle maintenance.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Mechanic is responsible for:
Mechanical Repairs (100%)
Completion of vehicle maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, etc.
Installing lights, car batteries, fuses, hoses, etc.
All vehicle motor repairs
Other duties as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
The Mechanic must know:
How to operate a vehicle
Have a strong understanding of how an automobile works and the mechanics involved
Have basic math skills
The Mechanic should be able to:
Follow and understand detailed instructions
Work efficiently and independently
Manage time and deadlines
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess certificate or post-secondary skills training in Automotive Repair and Mechanics
Must possess a valid driver’s license (minimum Class Five)
Red Seal preferably
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
The Mechanic should demonstrate the following competencies

Reading – Must be able to read instructions for repairs; will receive instructions from owner and mechanic on tasks required to complete
Oral Communication- Will at times interact with customers with regards to their vehicle repairs
Job Task Planning- to identify and plan daily job tasks and repairs
Problem Solving- Has to be able to solve problems as they arise with regards to vehicle repairs
LANGUAGE
Must have understanding and ability to speak, read and write English
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The typical physical demands of the Auto Body Repair Person include:
Strength Requirements:
Required to lift a minimum of 50lbs; lifting of auto body parts onto vehicles
Motion Parameters:
Must be able to bend, stand and crawl, in, around and under vehicles; use hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity when operating equipment such as sanders, welders, hoists, etc
Work Environment:
Will be working indoors, outdoors, in a garage environment; working in an environment with fumes, dust and hazardous materials; temperatures in garage environment can fluctuate depending on work being completed.
