What you’ll be doing…

As a key member of the Senior Leadership team of the College, the Director has a pivotal role in shaping our diverse and inclusive working and learning environment. The Director is central in connecting and linking campus work to strategic NSCC priorities through their effective working relationships with Principals, Deans, their Organizational Development counterparts and other College leaders.

Working with the Vice President, Organizational Development, and the whole Executive Team, the Director, Diversity and Inclusion will help to establish the vision and develop strategies to support diversity and inclusion at NSCC. The Director is a champion who will engage the College community in the planning, development and implementation of new directions in the evolution of diversity and inclusion at NSCC. This includes lending their considerable expertise, providing thought leadership and introducting industry best practices in the design and management of programs, initiatives and strategies that align with NSCC’s people strategies. The impact of their work is found in our success in student and employee recruitment and retention and the development of programs aligned with NSCC’s mission, vision and values.

You have:

Minimum qualifications:

  • A relevant degree in a related discipline Related disciplines may include; Community Services, Education, Social Work, HR, etc.

  • Certificate or recognized training/experience in Project Management

Minimum experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years recent progressive leadership experience specifically designing, developing and implementing initiatives to improve diversity of a workforce and/or student body effectively being able to promote and develop an inclusive culture

  • Strong mediation and facilitation techniques with the ability to mediate and facilitate within prescribed frameworks

  • Demonstrated experience with intervention techniques and the proven ability to apply adult learning principles to interventions

  • Proficient in windows-based computer applications including all Microsoft Office applications and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results.

  • Proven experience in the analysis and preparation of complex data and reporting

  • Strong demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills

  • Proven experience in managing projects, including financial aspects of project management

  • Experience in the development of effective internal and external communications and analytical writing skills.

Minimum skills and ability:

  • Ability to direct, influence and manage several functions simultaneously

  • Demonstrated practice of promoting collaboration and collegiality

  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to establish respectful working relationships across all groups

  • Excellent communications planning skills and demonstrated expertise in innovative problem solving and strategic thinking

  • Ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment

  • Effective planning and organizational ability

  • Proven ability in the research, analysis and measurement of data for assessments and progress reports.
