PeoplePlus Consulting Limited, an innovative and dynamic company with over 25 years of experience providing job search assistance to residents of Halifax Regional Municipality, is currently seeking to fill the full-time position of Case Manager at the Job Junction location.
Working cohesively within a team of job search professionals, the candidate will be responsible for delivering both in-house and outreach services to our clients and community partners. The ideal candidate will be highly dynamic, organized and detail oriented, with outstanding people skills. We are looking for an individual who is highly adaptable and who has a passion for helping clients to successfully achieve their career goals.
Position Details
Work with clients to take charge of their own career development by assisting them in the process of identifying and accessing resources, planning, and managing for their career-life development, by conducting Formal Needs Assessments, and developing Return to Work Action Plans. Assisting individuals to increase their self-awareness and understand their career issues. Establish work, learning, and/or life balance goals; and provide a foundation for taking action and an indicator of ongoing progress. Apply a variety of formal and informal assessment tools and techniques such as standardized and non-standardized instruments, and interviews.
The Case Manager will provide client assessment and case management services to unemployed persons in the Halifax Regional Municipality with the objective of assisting them to return to work.
Carries out in-depth assessments with clients to verify their barriers and needs, and works with the client to develop an appropriate plan of action.
Assess client needs under the four employability dimensions: Career Decision Making, Skills Enhancement, Job Search, Employment Maintenance; using a variety of assessment tools and resources
Assist clients to develop a return to work action plan, directing and supporting the client as they work through the activities and goals associated with the plan
Determine client eligibility for services, funded and unfunded, making recommendations of funding sources, and liaising with these resources to determine outcomes
Refer to other helping resources (both in-house and in the community) when appropriate and following up on client progress’
Document relevant and pertinent information on the client information system in a factual, objective and non-judgmental manner.
Responsible for the safety, security and confidentiality of sensitive client information.
Maintain follow up contact with the client offering guidance and support post Action Plan closure.
Conduct group workshops and information sessions, as needed.
Participate in staff meetings and case conferences.
Gather and disseminate relevant career and employment information to clients
Determine which information and resources needed to assist clients to maximize their job search
Update materials and stay current with employment trends, economic climate, and current employment opportunities by conducting research and networking
Collaborate with co-workers to effectively meet organizational service standards
Liaise with government representatives, other Community organizations, and local employers to promote the services of Job Junction
Job Requirements
University degree or combination of training and experience in the fields of Employment, Social Sciences or Human Resources
Related experience in the field of career development would be an asset.
Previous training or experience in a counselling role would be an asset
Possess excellent knowledge of the techniques, strategies, and tools required to carry out an effective job search
Experience delivering services and support in a client-centered work environment
Ability to research and provide current relevant Labour market information
Ability to research, collect, and use data for the purposes of developing training materials and client resources
Excellent grasp of the English Language (both written and verbal) with an ability to maintain focus and pay extremely close attention to detail. Preference will be given to candidates fluent (both written and verbal) in another language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Punjabi, Spanish)
Proven ability to work directly with clients, assess client needs and skill levels, and address client concerns in a professional manner
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a high standard of service delivery
Proficient computer skills particularly in MS Word, Internet, PowerPoint, Email, with a reliable typing speed and accuracy

Conditions of Employment
Hours of work will be from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
Start date will be as soon as possible.
