What you’ll be doing…
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, or designate, with an emphasis on energy and sustainability, the Building Services Assistant provides general building maintenance services and may assist in the delivery of custodial-related duties throughout the campus. Provides routine information and answers inquiries. Work is performed according to established NSCC standards and guidelines. The hours of work are thirty-five (35) hours per week. Shift work and on call duties may be required.

Grade 12 or recognized equivalent (GED) or willingness to attain Grade 12 or GED within the probationary period
Two years recent and progressive experience in a building maintenance related field or two years of related experience in one or more of the general building trades is required.
Building Environmental Systems - Practical Overview or equivalent
Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations
Must be organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment by using your planning and organizational skills.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to interpret policies and procedures accurately with strong oral and written communication skills in addition to interpersonal skills to provide routine information and answer inquiries
Basic knowledge of general building maintenance related to the mechanical aspects of all equipment in a public facility (i.e. painting, drywall repair, minor carpentry, HVAC and life safety systems).
Possession of a valid NS Driver’s License & First Aid, CPR, AED.
