Design Engineer, Electronics

Are you a highly motivated electronics engineer with experience in, and a passion for, design? Are you a self-starter? Do you have a keen interest in the design and development of the latest in RF and microwave technologies and power electronics.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

< >Participate in all aspects of product design from concept through system design, component design, component testing, system testing, and successful production;

Design and develop various system components such as amplifiers, power supplies, combiners, filters, supervisory circuitry, etc.;

Design and integration of system components, including assisting with drawing package development and handbook technical literature;

Working within a team environment;

Ensuring quality and cost of new product design;

Supporting the Production, Customer Service and Sales departments;

Representing the company through direct customer contact and at events such as industry conferences, trade shows and presentation of technical papers.

Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of achievements and education;

Previous experience with demonstrated excellence in the design of electronic equipment;

Ability to work well within a team and independently;

Proven problem solving and analytical skills;

Communication skills;

Familiarity with any of the following would be an asset:

Communication and navigation systems (Radio, VLF-UHF, Sonar, etc.)

RF and Microwave high power amplifiers (100’s to 1000’s of Watts)

Power supply design

Passive networks (combiners, filters, directional couplers, decoupling networks, etc.)

Power electronics

In addition, the following skills are of particular interest for this position:

Project Management skills;

Modeling experience in electronic or electromagnetic simulation tools such as Ansys or ADS;

Thermal design and/or fluid dynamics knowledge

The ability to obtain,and maintain, Controlled Goods clearance (as outlined in Section 15 of Canada’s Controlled Goods Regulations), as well as other security clearances, may be a requirement of this role. Interested applicants should submit their covering letter, transcript and resume
