JOB TITLE: Blinds and Awnings Assembler Trainee {NOC 9537 Other Products Assemblers}
REPORTS TO: Manager / Owner

 

POSITION SUMMARY
The Blinds and Awnings Assembler Trainee is an important member of the Direct2U Blinds and Awnings team, as he or she assists with all aspects of developing and installing final products, ensuring the customer is happy throughout the process and in the final product, as it is representative of our brand and image for high quality workmanship. Therefore, he or she works in a clean, safe, and efficient manner at all times and to ensure project work is completed on time while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
Warehouse (80%)  Cut and prepare blinds per specifications by customer using hand and power tools  Clean work areas and equipment  Maintain inventory records Delivery and Installation (20%) 

 

Deliver finished product(s) to customer using company vehicle  Install various types and sizes of blinds in residential and commercial properties  Secure confirmation of work completed satisfactorily by customer and return paperwork to office

 

Other Duties as Required
(The x% denotes the amount of time that the Blind and Awnings Assembler Trainee spends performing each duty during a typical shift)

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

 

The Blinds and Awnings Assembler Trainee must know:
 Basic math (to be able to complete inventory records and measurements for fabricating product)
 Basic computer skills (to be able to use MS Excel and MS Word)

 

The Blinds and Awnings Assembler Trainee should be able to:
 Communicate effectively and professionally with owner / manager, co-workers, as well as customers, other trades people / stakeholders encountered

 Maintain an organized work station that enhances productivity
 Work at a consistent productivity level with and without supervision
 Read manuals and directions to complete work accurately and efficiently
 Use basic hand and power tools needed to fabricate and install final product, safely and efficiently
 Adapt to different job site and circumstances
 Follow directions and be an effective team player
 Maintain adaptability and flexibility, as work often requires the need to re-prioritize tasks according to evolving and changing deadlines

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 High School or GED
 0 to 3 years of experience
 Bondable
 Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
 Class 5 Driver’s License (to be able to get to and from warehouse and job sites)
 WHMIS, Fall Arrest, and Aerial Work Platform training would be an asset

 Reading – to be able to read manuals and directions to complete work accurately and efficiently

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Strength Requirements
 Must be able to lift loads up to and including 100 lbs with assistance
Motion Parameters
 Required to stand on feet for long periods of time

Work Environment
 Required to work in wide variety of environments, from dusty environments, such as new construction, to clean, existing homes / office environments
 Required to work on weekends from time to time
 Required to drive in all weather conditions

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
 $25,000 per year
 90 day probation period
 Productivity bonus / incentive after probation period
