Additional Information:Terms of Employment: Full time position (1 year contract with renewal) This is generally a Monday to Friday day job however some evenings and weekend work will be required to attend events Information: Are you resident or an individual with a passion for the East Hants and districts area? The East Hants and Districts Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking a Chamber Coordinator to join our team. This position is ideal for an individual who would thrive in a community focused business and dynamic organization. This position requires an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to grow with the organization. The Chamber Coordinator is responsible for planning, preparing and overseeing daily activities for our members and business community while reporting to a board of directors.

Responsibilities:Relationship Management * Plan and arrange visits with members and local businesses to promote events and other Chamber initiatives * Educate existing and potential members of membership benefits * Deliver presentations, attend networking events, and act as a liaison with multiple businesses to build relationships with key partners * Interact with board and chamber members * Provide support as needed to the Executive and Committees Communications/Public Relations * Develop, edit, and distribute monthly newsletter * Schedule and maintain updates for social media posts and website information according to Social Media polices * Monitor and inform members of annual membership renewals as well as updating the website membership directory and email distribution lists * Act as a liaison for Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance and Theriault Insurance for membership plans * Maintain member files Event Planning * Collaborate with Events Committee to coordinate monthly or yearly workshops, training sessions as well as business meetings * Book meetings and event venues * Register event guests and handle payments * Develop and generate forms, advertisements and other documents associated with each event * Set up, attend, and participate in events Administrative/Office Coordination * Answer inquires and respond to calls and e-mails * Pickup and handle incoming mail, deliver outgoing mail * Preform general office duties as: filing, faxing, photocopying, backing up computer files, purchase supplies * Arrange for equipment maintenance and office cleaning * Book boardroom for meetings/rentals/training * Attend monthly Board and committee meetings, take Minutes, prepare Agendas * Enter accounts receivable, prepare invoices and receipts, prepare cheques and arrange for signatures * Prepare monthly visa statements, bank statements and Moneris statements for bookkeeper * Generate reports and track budgets for committees and projects * Prepare and submit bank deposits, pay monthly remittances * Process credit card payments (by telephone) and handle any cash payments * Prepare, update and submit annual filing with Registry of Joint Stock Companies Essential Skills: Must demonstrate: * Excellent communications skills - verbal & written * Well organized, detail oriented and a proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment * Possess strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher, SAGE 50 (Simply Accounting), Wordpress is an asset but not a requirement. * Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills * Reliable and dependable – must be able to work well independently and in a team environment * Critical thinker with the ability to make effective decisions * Able to prioritize responsibilities and report to a board of directors * Flexible individual with the ability to adaptable to changing priorities Additional Details: * Must have a valid drivers licence and a reliable vehicle * A combination of education and experience will be considered however preference will be given to individuals with 2 – 5 years experience with business sales and leadership. * Experience working in a not for profit organization would be an asset but not a requirement
