Parent & Family Program Facilitator-1 Year TERM POSITION

 

We are currently seeking a Parenting & Family Program Facilitator, for a 1 year term, based out of both our Halifax and Shearwater Sites. 

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Research new preventative programs/services to enhance current practices;

  • Develop, coordinate and facilitate affordable and accessible programs for children and families that are based upon demonstrated need through the center’s community assessment, requests from military family members, current trends and research;

  • Establish and maintain links with community groups, private agencies and government departments offering programs and services that military families can access;

  • Assess family emergency child care situations and develop an appropriate plan;

  • Assist families in preparing child care plans for use in emergencies;

  • Ensure and conduct ongoing evaluations of child, parent and family programs, monitoring its ability to help families develop new skills, capacities and connections- make required changes and adjustments;

  • Educate families about casual, respite and emergency child care options; and

  • Prepare budget and funding submissions and be accountable for the budget and funding for parent and family program.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a diploma or degree in Child & Youth studies or Early Childhood Education;

  • Three years’ experience in program development, facilitation and implementation;

  • Superior group/workshop facilitation skills with children and families;

  • Excellent interpersonal and assessment skills;

  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral;

  • Current first-aid and CPR certification and valid driver’s license;

  • Knowledge and practice of Microsoft computer applications;

  • Knowledge of the unique challenges of the military family lifestyle;

  • Proficiency in French an asset; and

  • Must pass screening process of the Child Abuse Registry and a Criminal Records check.

 

Start Date: 28 November, 2016 (1 Year Term Position)

Salary based on $40 000/year
