FEED NOVA SCOTIA is a charitable organization that helps feed hungry people by collecting and distributing food to 147 member agency food banks and meal programs. What is a Christmas Support Worker?
The Christmas Support Worker will play a key role to ensure over 7000 requests for Christmas support are processed effectively and all applicants know how to receive the support available to them. In the midst of a very busy ‘workshop’ you will respond to 100’s of phone calls each day, alleviate individuals’ concerns and frustrations at a stressful time of year, support an amazing team of volunteers, and help match Christmas requests with hundreds of caring community organizations and businesses. The “Workshop’ is overflowing with the spirit of Christmas and all activities are completed with an absolute commitment to respect and confidentiality.
Regular working hours will be from 8:00 – 4:30pm; however, there will be three shifts in November from 12:00 noon – 7:30pm
What does the Christmas Support Worker do?
Respond to incoming calls with empathy, respect, and accurate information
Ensure all administrative and communication processes are consistently applied
Support volunteers involved with incoming and outgoing calls to help provide an engaging and impactful experience
Support the Christmas Registry data entry activities
What are we looking for?
Diploma or Certificate in a Human Services related field
Previous experience providing front line support to vulnerable people
Proficiency in Word and Excel; data base experience considered an asset
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must
Flexible; able to adapt to varied work requirements
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team focused environment
Excellent interpersonal skills
