Full Time Inclusion Coordinator

The Inclusion Coordinator will work in partnership with all Early Childhood Educators and the Director to ensure the implementation of our Centre’s Inclusion Statement. To provide support to ensure program adaptations, enhancements and accommodations are made so all children can fully participate in all activities; this may mean working with multiple programs or children at one time.
H&R MFRC Daycare receives funding from the Department of ECDS to sustain an inclusive child care program. This funding does not provide one on one care to individual children with disabilities.
Client Relations
Ensure the confidentiality of all families in our Child Care Centre and clients of the MFRC
Effectively communicate with the Director and ECE’s regarding program plans, parents’ concerns and matters pertaining to the children attending the program
Ensure ongoing daily communication as required with parents to provide status updates on children and the program as it relates to our inclusion practices
Liaise with parents as needed to provide follow up
Use of appropriate behaviour guidance techniques
Program Delivery
Implementation of the Supported Child Care Funding Work Plan
Implementation and education of our Centre’s Inclusion Statement
Implementation and education of the six Principles of Inclusion
Take the lead in goal setting, collaboration and evaluation with ECE’s, parents, and external professionals for individual children’s progress, i.e. Routine Based Plans
Administration Responsibilities
Ensure ongoing daily communication with the Director to provide status updates on children, program, ECE’s as it relates to our inclusion practices
Coordinate and participate with parents, ECE’s and/or external professionals to set up team meetings or complete professionals’ reports as needed
Act as a point of contact and work in partnership with external professional to set up visits and observations to ensure minimal program disruptions

Ability to lift 50 pounds
Desired Knowledge, Experience and Education
Must possess a Nova Scotia Level 2 or 3 Classification in Early Childhood Education.
Specialized training for working with children with disabilities is an asset; including development and implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPP’s)
A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children ages 18 mos.- 5years
Willingness to attend professional development and training for inclusion of children with disabilities and/or special needs.
Current First-Aid and CPR certification (Standard “C”)
Current Criminal Records, Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check required.

Starting Annual Salary: $32000 (includes ECE Grant) and based on Classification Level, Education & Experience.
