Term Job Posting

Reporting to the Communications/Marketing Supervisor, working from the Halifax site, this position is responsible to plan, organize, promote, implement and evaluate activities and duties that comprise the MFRC’s fund development plan.


  • Develop and implement annual fund development plan including but not limited to: coordination of annual Extravaganza lottery, GCWCC and Oktoberfest;

  • Meet or exceed annual fund raising goals as laid out by the organization;

  • Develop and implement fund development program guidelines and procedures;

  • Identification and solicitation of potential sources of sponsorship/donation;

  • Actively seek out new sponsors and corporate donors;

  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate donors and sponsors;

  • Ensure donor/sponsor recognition;

  • Develop and implement fund development communications strategy;

  • Prepare and distribute personalized written materials, including: reports, presentations, cover letters, thank you notes, etc;

  • Research and support the writing of funding proposals and other communications for the purposes of fund development;

  • Research opportunities for funding through foundations and corporations;

  • Solicit corporate support for events;

  • Identify opportunities for MFRC exposure and or presence at military and civilian special events and activities;

  • Network with other military and civilian organizations including other MFRCs;

  • Prepare annual and fundraising budget including establishing milestones and financial targets; and

  • Be accountable for program budget;

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a timely and efficient manner;

  • Ability to work as a positive member of the team, facilitating a team environment; and

  • Participate in developing new ideas and methods for program enhancement and ability to adapt to changes.

  • Post-secondary education or related experience in fundraising or event sales marketing;

  • 5 years’ experience and a proven track record in fund development;

  • Member of an accredited professional fundraising association;

  • Superior knowledge of the non-profit sector and charitable giving;

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical and financial skills;

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast paced environment;

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment;

  • Excellent computer skills;

  • Experience in training, coordinating and planning events;

  • Must be able to effectively plan, organize and implement multiple projects;

  • Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation; and

  • Knowledge of the unique challenges of the military lifestyle and proficiency in French are considered and asset.

Start Date: ASAP – undetermined term position

Salary: based upon an annual salary of $ 40, 000
