Job Summary: Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre provides youth with opportunities for employment, life-skill and academic development. The Employment Facilitator is responsible for the Transition Program, an employability program designed to address the complex needs of the youth we serve. During this 16-week program the Employment Facilitator facilitates group learning and coordinates and supports youth through their work placements. Youth participate in skill development workshops for four weeks prior to engaging in a 12-week work placement. The program offers three intakes over the course of twelve months and each intake engages five youth. Compensation: A competitive salary, comprehensive group insurance plan, Employee and Family Assistance Program, RRSP contribution, three weeks of vacation.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with some flexibility and occasional evening work

Reports to: Coordinator, Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre
Screening Requirements: This position is subject to a satisfactory criminal record check, vulnerable sector search, child abuse register check and proof of education.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Work as part of a team to determine best practices in employability programming. - Develop, design and facilitate a four-week employability program to youth who have a variety of learning needs. - Support youth participants who are experiencing multiple barriers to employment through a 12-week work placement. - Develop and closely monitor through effective communication and collaboration the individual goals that each youth identifies upon entry into the program. - Identify and approach employers/mentors in the community with the goal of creating workplace training opportunities for youth and coordinate workplace training opportunities with employers. - Supervise workplace training opportunities and support youth and employers to facilitate a transition toward employment independence. - Advocate with employers on behalf of the youth. - Empower youth to make their own decisions. - Maintain records and statistics as required ensuring confidentiality. - Monitor the progress of participants through weekly check-ins. - Continually evaluate the program to ensure the program is inclusive of all members of society.
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor of Education or equivalent with a minimum of one year of direct experience with qualifications listed below. - Possess extensive knowledge of community resources and social service delivery systems related to training and employment programs and an ability to foster positive relationships with community partners. - Experience facilitating groups using an adult education model and experiential education. - Experience using various educational assessments. - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with youth. - Experience supporting young people to make positive transitions into the workforce. - Possess strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. - Registration or Candidacy for Registration, certification or membership of a related professional body (if applicable). - Non-violent crisis intervention (CPI), suicide intervention (ASIST), standard first aid or a commitment to secure those requirements within six months of being hired.
