Position profileThe Network Service Team Leader is responsible for the operations and maintenance of Telecom's network services portfolio, requiring strong business and technical skills . The candidate must clearly understand the business requirements of a 7/24 rail transport environment where safety and reliability are mission critical and propose solutions to that effect. CN's network offers great challenges:
Spans over North America (Canada and United States).
Is composed of all types of communications media (fibre/copper/wireless/cell/microwave/etc).
Is currently changing its core to MPLS.
Is preparing to modify its QoS settings to integrate VoIP, RoIP and video.
Is composed of more than Cisco Routers/Switches, 500 Alcatel routers, Juniper Firewall's Wan Optimization Controllers
CN is looking for a self-starter who can rapidly analyze situations, and decisively take justifiable actions. Some travel may be required. Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team of 6 employees
Perform employee performance reviews
Manage Core device deployments/support and escalations
Assist Manager with vendor contract management
Manage Incident / Problem / Vulnerability and performance management
Manage Lifecycle to all key Network services assets
Accountable to peer review all Telecom Change Controls
Detail analysis and operation review of CN core Network Infrastructure
Perform Network Operational Audits , verifications to existing standards
Internal / External project involvement ( provide guidance and direction to proper transition to core to operations )
Plan and coordinate the implementation, testing and cutover of Telecom technologies into existing telecom infrastructure. This may include the guidance of field technicians.
Assist and Manage Disaster Recovery exercises
Provide 3rd Level support to pager roster ( 24/7) .
SkillSet:
5-10 years of experience with IP networking and services (DNS, DHCP, VPN, Juniper firewalls, Cisco portfolio, network monitoring tools, Wifi, VoIP, MPLS, etc)
At least 2 years experience in a leadership role.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent. Telecommunications specialization preferred.
Knowledge of Linux and Windows platforms
Experience with Proxy, Wan Optimization , ADC
Experience with Load Balancers , QOS ,Bluecoat Packetshaper
Experience with Unified Communications
Experience in building business cases and providing estimates is an asset.
Good understanding of transport media (fiber, copper, wireless).
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
Bilingual (English, French).
