Position profileCanadian National (CN) is seeking a Bilingual Dispatcher to assume responsibility for radio dispatching and response in both official languages. The position:

  • Prioritize incoming telephone calls

  • Radio dispatch CN Police in the U.S. and Canada when incidents occur

  • Coordinate actions between local emergency services and CN forces

  • Monitor CN Police Officers' safety as they go about their duties

  • Assist CN employees in emergency situations

  • Update and maintain various databases

  • Enter and retrieve information through CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre)

· The ideal candidate must have:

  • Fluency in English and French, both verbal and written.

  • Completed a college degree (a field related to security is an asset, as is completion of Emergency Dispatch Course).

  • Pertinent experience working in emergency dispatch.

  • Ability to work in a computerized environment, including multiple databases, spreadsheets and word processing software.

  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to listen and assist people in emergency situations.

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.

  • Proven ability to multi-task and effectively deal with a number of urgent situations simultaneously.

  • Advanced ability to demonstrate good judgment, think critically and problem solve. Action oriented.

Training requirements: · The successful candidate will undergo six weeks of training with a coaching officer. Successful completion of the training program is mandatory in order to work as a Dispatcher, Police Services.
