Position Profile: CN is looking for an energetic and adaptable individual to fill the role of Manager, Compensation within its Human Resources Department in Montreal. This position represents a unique opportunity to influence CN's management compensation structure with an objective of attracting, retaining and engaging CN's talent. This position also presents an opportunity to interact with other CN departments, including Law, Finance, Marketing and Operations. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Compensation, the Manager, Compensation is responsible for establishing a market-competitive salary structure for all North-American management employees. The Manager, Compensation also acts as an advisor to CN's HR field team and participates in the design, administration, communication and monitoring of CN's broad-based compensation programs. Major Responsibilities: Establish and monitor a market-competitive grade, salary and bonus structure for CN's North-American management employees (representing more than 4,500 employees); Review and grade of all management jobs and maintain the grade structure system; Participate in benchmarking exercises with the objective of obtaining key market data which will allow CN to continue to provide competitive compensation packages; Provide coaching and guidance to HR professionals; Develop communication material; Partner with the Marketing group to manage and administer CN's Sales Incentive Program; Support the compensation team during compensation cycles: from the recommendation of salary budgets through to the payment and communication of all annual salary increases, bonus and LTI payments; Manage any necessary severances; Ensure plan documents and policies remain up-to-date; Manage systemic issues and complex cases. Requirements: University degree in Human Resources, Economics, Commerce or related field; MBA would be an asset; Minimum of 8 years of experience in compensation management; Experience performing job evaluations; Experience working with HRIS systems such as SAP; Solid project management skills; Strong computer skills in Excel, Word and Powerpoint; Self-starter with strong problem solving skills; Should be familiar with employment legislation; Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French.
