Position profile
The Role: To manage and administer group benefits plans and other programs including financial aspects, disability management, coordination with external providers, unions and other CN's functions, advise and provide recommendation for issues related to benefits. Responsibilities:
Benefits management including review of group insurance renewals, produce financial analysis and projections for budgeting and strategic decision-making, negotiation with providers, assess impact of legislative change, manage annual wellness program, develop communication strategy and material, make recommendations whenever appropriate
Ongoing management and changes to various programs such as expatriates and post-retirement plans, services & retirement gifts, scholarships, discounts programs, vacation policy, home and auto insurance; include management of programs' costs, providers services and fees, develop communication strategy and material, make recommendations whenever appropriate
Handle benefits administration in collaboration with external administrator and coordinate issues with CN payroll and IT department, billing, advise and guidance to HR representatives for requests related to benefits and other programs
Manage special requests, complaints and complex disability cases, manage disability plans and providers, review disability processes with all internal and external parties including unions, provide appropriate training and recommend improvements, manage Unions' disability plan committee and coordinate with consultants, insurers and union representatives, provide recommendations
Analysis of cost impact for negotiations of collective agreement, assist and provide recommendation to HR and Labor Relations, manage and implement changes in benefits resulting form collective bargaining, contract changes with insurers, ongoing update of communication and booklets
Experience Required:
Good knowledge and relevant experience in group insurance programs, solid analytical skills
Good organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
Capacity to handle special situations with employees, unions and providers, capacity to coordinate and maintain a good relationship with all parties
Capacity to handle complex disability cases, advise and coordinate with providers and other parties
Very proficient in Excel, basic proficiency in Word and PowerPoint; basic knowledge of SAP would be a plus
Resourceful and with initiative
Bilingual - Communicate (written and spoken) in both French and English
Bachelor degree in actuarial science or administration
Minimum 5 years of experience in benefits
