Position profileCanadian National (CN) is seeking a Bilingual Dispatcher to assume responsibility for radio dispatching and response in both official languages.
Prioritize incoming telephone calls
Radio dispatch CN Police in the U.S. and Canada when incidents occur
Coordinate actions between local emergency services and CN forces
Monitor CN Police Officers' safety as they go about their duties
Assist CN employees in emergency situations
Update and maintain various databases
Enter and retrieve information through CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre)
· The ideal candidate must have:
Fluency in English and French, both verbal and written.
Completed a college degree (a field related to security is an asset, as is completion of Emergency Dispatch Course).
Pertinent experience working in emergency dispatch.
Ability to work in a computerized environment, including multiple databases, spreadsheets and word processing software.
Excellent customer service skills; ability to listen and assist people in emergency situations.
Proven ability to work as part of a team.
Proven ability to multi-task and effectively deal with a number of urgent situations simultaneously.
Advanced ability to demonstrate good judgment, think critically and problem solve. Action oriented.
· The successful candidate will undergo six weeks of training with a coaching officer. Successful completion of the training program is mandatory in order to work as a Dispatcher, Police Services.
