The Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre (H&R MFRC) is a provincially registered charitable organization that is governed by an independent and democratically elected volunteer Board of Directors. The H&R MFRC provides quality programs and services to our military community, which includes programming and services for the whole family.
We are currently seeking 2-3 Casual Care Providers based out of our Halifax Site.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Responsible for supervision of children ranging in age from 4 month to 12 years;
Responsible for welcoming individual children and families into the program;
Responsible for working in cooperation with other staff and effectively on their own;
Establish and maintain effective communication with children, parents, staff, and supervisor;
Responsible for providing children with stimulating, age appropriate activities, which allow children to make their own choices;
Use of appropriate behaviour management techniques as outlined by the MFRC;
Maintain direct contact with children and parents. Be alert to daily program needs and demonstrate positive parenting and childcare practices; and
Responsible for familiarizing yourself with children’s records, i.e. medical conditions, allergies.
Qualifications:
Early childhood education background an asset;
Experience working with children 4 months to 12 years in a group setting;
Volunteer or paid experience organizing or initiating program activities;
Current certificate in Emergency First Aid and CPR (Standard “C”) or willingness to attain training; and
Must pass screening process of the Child Abuse Registry and a Criminal Records Check.
Other information:
Casual, when needed basis, as much notice as possible will be given if a shift is cancelled.
- Daytime Hours are varied depending on program and site
Evening hours are varied depending on program and site
Weekend hours are varied
Number of hours will depend on program needs and number of children enrolled.
