Casual Care provider

 

The Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre (H&R MFRC) is a provincially registered charitable organization that is governed by an independent and democratically elected volunteer Board of Directors.  The H&R MFRC provides quality programs and services to our military community, which includes programming and services for the whole family.

 

We are currently seeking 2-3 Casual Care Providers based out of our Halifax Site. 

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):  

  • Responsible for supervision of children ranging in age from 4 month to 12 years;

  • Responsible for welcoming individual children and families into the program;

  • Responsible for working in cooperation with other staff and effectively on their own;

  • Establish and maintain effective communication with children, parents, staff, and supervisor;

  • Responsible for providing children with stimulating, age appropriate activities, which allow children to make their own choices;

  • Use of appropriate behaviour management techniques as outlined by the MFRC;

  • Maintain direct contact with children and parents. Be alert to daily program needs and demonstrate positive parenting and childcare practices; and

  • Responsible for familiarizing yourself with children’s records, i.e. medical conditions, allergies.

 

Qualifications:

  • Early childhood education background an asset;

  • Experience working with children 4 months to 12 years in a group setting;

  • Volunteer or paid experience organizing or initiating program activities;

  • Current certificate in Emergency First Aid and CPR (Standard “C”) or willingness to attain training; and

  • Must pass screening process of the Child Abuse Registry and a Criminal Records Check.

 

Other information:

Casual, when needed basis, as much notice as possible will be given if a shift is cancelled.

-    Daytime Hours are varied depending on program and site

  • Evening hours are varied depending on program and site

  • Weekend hours are varied

  • Number of hours will depend on program needs and number of children enrolled.
