The Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre (H&R MFRC) is a provincially registered charitable organization that is governed by an independent and democratically elected volunteer Board of Directors. The H&R MFRC provides quality programs and services to our military community, which includes programming and services for the whole family.
We are currently seeking Casual Shift workers for our Family Information and Referral Services Team based out of our Halifax Site.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Provide excellent customer service to all clients and assist them as required;
Put the appropriate service, referral or resource in place, including but not limited to emergency accommodations, emergency funds, emergency gift cards, emergency and respite childcare.
Provide customers with the appropriate referrals to services/resources available within the military and civilian community;
Provide information on all programs and provide orientation services to new community members using MFRC facilities.
Being familiar with and referring customers to appropriate MFRC services
Being familiar with and enforcing the H&R MFRC Privacy Code;
Issuing and tracking all H&R MFRC equipment loan outs;
Issuing and processing of all Military Family Identification Cards (MFID’s);
Assess requests, provide information and refer to appropriate organizational, Base or community resources and ensure effective and immediate follow-up is provided on all client requests using established case management procedures.
Ensure that all individuals and issues are handled in a confidential and professional manner.
Provide information on MFRC services, programs, workshops/activities, Base and community resources
Maintain program registration files, collect fees, including issuing tickets, updating register, and accepting payments (cash/credit/debit), issuing receipts and maintaining cash register system as detailed by Financial Services.
Ensuring the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of FIRST administration
Attend required meetings and training sessions, including but not limited to MFRC orientation training, suicide intervention training, Child Abuse Protocol and Family Violence etc.
Qualifications:
Possess a degree ina social service field or equivalent experience and education
Must be fluent in English and French an asset
Previous Canadian Forces experience required
Must be able to work all shifts
Excellent knowledge of community resources available to families
Excellent interpersonal and assessment skills.
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
Very good computer skillsand experience with Microsoft applications
Knowledge of the unique challenges of the military family lifestyle essential
Must pass screening process of the Child Abuse Registry and a Criminal Records check
Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
