Administrative Coordinator


NSCDA Administrative Coordinator Full-time Position The Nova Scotia Career Development Association (NSCDA) requires an experienced full-time Administrative Co-ordinator to provide support to all the NSCDA’s business and activities, including Financial Management, Human Resources, Governance, and other administrative duties as required. The Nova Scotia Career Development Association is a not-for-profit organization that provides strategic leadership to Nova Scotia professionals in career development. NSCDA is a membership driven organization with over 300 members and is led by a volunteer board. This position provides administrative support to all board members, staff and board executive. Required qualifications and skills: The ideal applicant will have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

  • Demonstrated commitment to a collaborative administrative style, with a proven ability to think strategically, manage efficiently, and communicate effectively

  • Financial Management and generally accepted accounting principles, including bookkeeping and internal / external audits

  • Knowledge of Simply Accounting

  • A demonstrative knowledge of board structure and governance

  • Ability to draft human resource policies and prepare procedures to implement the organizational policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board as appropriate.

  • An understanding of the operations of the NSCDA and career development practice in general

  • Experience in using the LAMPSS data management system

  • Bilingual ability (English / French) considered an asset

  • General knowledge of association management information systems, internet registration and other technological applications providing service to members

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Effective Verbal and Listening Communications Skills

  • Computer Skills including the ability to operate spreadsheets and word processing programs at a highly proficient level (must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite) and Simply Accounting

  • Effective Written Communications Skills including the ability to prepare reports, policies
