The Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre (H&R MFRC) a registered charity that provides quality programs and services to military families. Reporting to Family Separation and Reunion Coord, and working within a multi-disciplinary team, Family Separation and Reunion (Outreach) Program Facilitator is responsible for providing services to CAF members and their families experiencing work related separations, through personal contacts, network activities, events, workshops, referrals and other duties associated with family networks.
Assist in preparation of correspondence, reports and written documentation for Family Separation and Reunion program;
Respond to telephone, e-mail and walk-in inquiries with required assistance or appropriate referral to the Centre staff;
Initiate and maintain contact with other stakeholders, units, COs and families locally and in outreach areas;
Liaise with and facilitate deployment family networks and activities;
Deliver deployment awareness sessions for diverse audiences;
Participate in Pre-deployment and professional development briefings and related material;
Actively search for family contact information through communication with and liaising with military units;
Provide families with opportunities to connect with and support each other during periods of separation through social and recreational activities;
Provide resources and support that meet families’ needs as a result of separation,
Participate in ongoing evaluation through the collection of statistics, development of evaluation tools and solicitation of relevant feedback through casual communication i.e.: email, cards and letters.
Related diploma/certificate social service field, adult education or a related discipline. Prior CF service essential;
First Aid Certified;
Four years’ experience in customer service and event planning;
Exceptional communication, organizational and interpersonal skills;
Superior computer skills;
Excellent workshop and group facilitation skills;
Experience in program design, delivery and evaluation;
Excellent knowledge in community resources;
Proficiency in French an asset;
Must be able to travel; and
Valid driver’s license.
