JOB TITLE: Inside Sales Representative w/ Materials Handling

REPORTS TO: Branch Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for customer orders from start to finish including: receiving, processing, picking, shipping, pricing and invoicing. Customer orders – including returns/repairs - may be in-person, by telephone, fax, or email. He/She requires excellent customer service skills such as active listening, collaboration and oral communication. Attention to detail is required when completing documents, particularly for shipping hazardous materials.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for:

Inside Sales [50%]

  • Respond to requests for quotations in-person, or by telephone/fax/email

  • Receive customer orders in-person, or by telephone/fax/email

  • Check order pricing against price list, customer contract, or specific quote as appropriate

  • Process order request using accounting software (Sage / AccPac)

  • Record backorders once customer order has shipped

  • Invoice customer order and give to manager for approval

Materials Handling [40%]

  • Pick orders from warehouse stock and pack for shipping

  • Prepare shipping documentation, including Dangerous Goods as required, and arrange pick-up

  • Collate shipping documentation with order documentation

  • Receive incoming product and put into stock, or set aside for specific customer order

  • Work in coordination with manager to maintain warehouse in orderly fashion

Administrative Duties [10%]

  • Collate and file all paperwork relating to customer orders

  • Assist manager with inventory counts

Other duties as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

The Inside Salesperson must know:

  • Functionality of MS Office Suite

  • Database management system functionality (Sage / AccPac)

The Inside Salesperson should be able to:

  • Utilize a variety of typical office equipment, including: telephone, fax, copier, scanner and personal computer

  • Utilize a variety of typical warehouse equipment, including: forklift, pallet truck, hand dolly

  • Demonstrate attention to detail to ensure accuracy of documentation

  • Manage time and prioritize tasks

  • Read and interpret documentation at a minimum Grade 10 reading level

  • Utilize MS Office Suite to type, edit, format and revise documentation

  • Speak with customers in required speed and tone to ensure mutual understanding

  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bondable

  • Previous sales and/or warehouse experience considered an asset

  • Completion of Grade 12 (or GED)

  • Valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The typical physical demands of the Inside Salesperson include:

  • Strength Requirements:

May be required to manually lift packages weighing upwards of 25kg / 55lbs

  • Motion Parameters:

Use hand-eye coordination to complete typing tasks and correspond on the telephone, as well as forklift operation

  • Work Environment:

Over half of day spent in office environment, with other time spent in warehouse environment.
