On their behalf, we are looking for somebody with visionary leadership and wide-ranging skills, who, as Executive Director, will ensure that the mission of Saint Vincent’s is carried out with integrity and professionalism.
What qualities are needed in an Executive Director?
To start, you must combine strategic leadership qualities and hands-on administrative abilities in one person. In other words, you see the big picture but also worry about the details.
Ideally, you have an MHA, although equivalent qualifications will be considered as long as you have at relevant senior management experience, extensive knowledge of geriatrics, and a solid grasp of the issues facing long-term care of seniors.
Collaborative by nature, you are an advocate who can point to an impressive track record building consensus among multiple stakeholders such as governments, staff, residents, families, health authorities, and the community at large. You have an eye for quality and are relentless in trying to find new ways to improve the quality of care, operations and services.
On top of all that, you are an exceptional administrator, fully adept in all facets of day-to-day operations including human resources, finance, administration, operations, physical plant, and government relations. Lastly, you understand what good governance means and provide sound advice to the Board on strategic and policy matters.
