What you’ll be doing…
A part of the faculty team for the School of Health and Human Services, you will be responsible to deliver related subjects courses in the Health & Human Services Programs: Social Services, Practical Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Continuing Care, and Occupational Physiotherapy Assistant. Coursework may include Communications, Research and Literacy, Computers, Psychology or similar. You will maintain curriculum and evaluate student performance on an ongoing basis. You will work in conjunction with core program faculty assisting them in their academic planning as well as developing personal and career-oriented portfolios demonstrating the planning, reflection and assessment of their learning.

Minimum qualifications: • You possess a relevant post-secondary degree in the area of Social Sciences, Human Services, Education, or Adult Education.
Minimum experience: • You possess a minimum of five years of recent occupational experience related to supporting individuals with a broad base of adult learning and human services issues.
Minimum skills and ability: • You are innovative, committed to life-long learning and demonstrate a commitment to community involvement. • Your desire and enthusiasm to teach students with diverse backgrounds and knowledge, along with your superb presentation, interpersonal, and team building skills, make you an ideal candidate. • As a creative self-starter, you have been recognized for your high energy and your commitment to excellence. • You have a working knowledge of Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2010 as well as a thorough knowledge of the Internet and e-mail technology. • You are also familiar with the concepts of Portfolio Education.
As a condition of employment, Faculty and Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete NSCC’s Community College Education Diploma Program (CCEDP). CCEDP is a two-year diploma that provides a foundation in adult education principles. CCEDP is a significant investment of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Faculty and Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete CCEDP within their probationary period. Term full-time Faculty who are employed for twelve or more months are also required to participate in CCEDP.
