What you’ll be doing…

As part of the School of Health and Human Services faculty team, you will provide online instruction in the theoretical and practical components of the Early Childhood Education program for first- and second-year students. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of curricula, evaluation of learner performance and for assisting with the establishing and monitoring of work experience placements. You will network with community agencies and professional associations. In addition, you will be an advisor to students enrolled in the program, assisting them in their academic planning as well as developing personal and career-oriented portfolios demonstrating the planning, reflection, and assessment of their learning.

You have:

Minimum qualifications: • You possess relevant post-secondary degree in the field of Early Childhood Education.

Minimum experience: • You have a minimum of five years relevant occupational experience in this area, or the recognized equivalencies. • You are familiar with alternate delivery and online instructional techniques using computer mediated courseware, such as Desire2Learn (D2L). You are open to innovative approaches to education and welcome the challenge of online instruction and development.

Minimum skills and ability: • You are familiar with the concepts of portfolio education. You have a proven track record working in a dynamic team environment with strengths in collaboration and co-facilitation. • You are innovative and committed to life-long learning and community involvement. • Your desire and enthusiasm to teach students with diverse backgrounds and knowledge, along with your superb presentation, interpersonal and team building skills make you an ideal candidate. • As a creative self-starter, you have been recognized for your high energy and your commitment to excellence.

As a condition of employment, Faculty and Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete NSCC’s Community College Education Diploma Program (CCEDP). CCEDP is a two-year diploma that provides a foundation in adult education principles. CCEDP is a significant investment of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Faculty and Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete CCEDP within their probationary period. Term full-time Faculty who are employed for twelve or more months are also required to participate in CCEDP.
