CN is seeking a qualified and motivated person to perform bridge inspections throughout various subdivisions in Western Canada. The position involves the inspection of railway bridges and the occasional operation of a Snooper inspection truck. You will be part of a two-person inspection team. The primary duty will be to assist and support the Bridge Inspector for this area. Responsible for performing detail and visual bridge inspections, identifying structural distress, ranking the condition of bridge components and maintaining the bridge inspection database.
Critical performance areas may include the following:
Maintain and operate a CN high-rail pick-up truck; occasionally operate and maintain a CN snooper truck
Inspection of steel, concrete and timber bridges
Inspection culverts, tunnels and retaining walls
Prepare condition assessment reports for bridges and other structures for purposes of repair
Ensure that bridges and other railway structures are inspected in accordance with sound assessment practices and approved railway standards in a timely manner
Apply CN policies and the 5 guiding principles.
Work is primarily outdoors in varying types of weather within a specified territory.
May be required to work anywhere within the primary area and short periods outside of the primary area.
Must be comfortable working at heights; will require climbing skills and practice disciplined climbing techniques.
Travel requirements (60-75% of the time), including extended overnight stays away from home.
Will be required to respond to emergency situations.
Will be required to occasionally work in a office environment.
Valid driver's license with air endorsement, or ability to obtain within 3 months.
Ability to understand and follow National Safety Code regulations and requirements.
Valid in CN CROR rules.
Minimum of 2 years experience as a Bridge Foreman, or proven maintenance experience with bridges and associated components.
Good knowledge of bridge construction standard practices.
Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
Trained in personal fall protection.
Ability to be trained and certified in rescue from heights.
Ability to be trained and certified in confined entry procedures/rescue techniques.
Demonstrated ability to identify defects in structural steel, concrete and timber super and substructures.
Good computer skills; working knowledge of MS Excel and Word, ability to learn data entry into SAP, EPI and BCS bridge inspection database.

Associates Degree; Engineering or related discipline, Construction Technology preferred
5 years railroad experience
5 years working in Bridges function
Experienced with EPI, BCS and SAP
Certified in Track Inspection Guidelines
Emergency First Aid
· Qualified for Safety Sensitive Position
