What you’ll be doing…

The Financial Analyst is responsible for a variety of accounting functions including quarter end expense analysis, balance sheet account reconciliations and electronic journal voucher processing. The successful candidate will also be responsible for accounts payable vendor setup, procurement policy compliance review and contractor/consultant review. The Financial Analyst is responsible for regulatory T4A preparation for both NSCC and NSCC Foundation. They will demonstrate independence and initiative in anticipating needs, and successfully manage multiple and competing priorities.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a College Diploma or University Degree with an accounting concentration.

Minimum experience:

  • Entry level: working knowledge and experience with spreadsheets, databases and various accounting software packages

  • Working knowledge of accounting functions related to general ledger processing

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and email.

  • Strong organizational, analytical skills and problem solving skills with a comprehensive understanding of accounting systems

  • Experience with PeopleSoft would be considered an asset

Minimum skills and ability:

  • Attention to detail and, as a creative self-starter, you have been recognized for your strong work ethic and your commitment to excellence

  • Known for superb organization skills, ability to multi task and work in a complex and ever changing atmosphere

  • Ability to exercise judgment, tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in managing the day to day operations

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interpret policies and procedures accurately

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other staff, internal/external clients and departments

  • Experience with PeopleSoft would be considered an asset
