What you’ll be doing…

As part of the School of Health and Human Services faculty team, you will facilitate students’ learning in the Practical Nursing Program in preparation for successful completion of the National Licensed Practical Nurse examination by providing, laboratory instruction and/or clinical instruction during schedule blocks of time during the academic year.

You have:

Minimum qualifications: • You possess a Bachelor of Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred), RN Diploma or a Practical Nursing Diploma.

Minimum experience: • You have a minimum of five years recent, relevant clinical practice experience in the nursing field, or the recognized equivalencies. Specifically, you bring recent, progressive experience in the fields of Acute Care, Long Term Care or Community Nursing. • You are currently registered, or are eligible for registration, with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia (CRNNS) or the College of Licensed Practical Nurses (CLPNNS). • Ideally, you have experience with adult learners and post-graduate practical nurses. • You have related computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, the Internet and E-mail. You are innovative and committed to life-long learning and to community involvement. You are familiar with the concepts of portfolio education.

Minimum skills and ability: • Your desire and enthusiasm to teach students with diverse backgrounds and knowledge, along with your superb presentation, interpersonal and team building skills make you an ideal candidate. As a creative self-directed learner, you have been recognized for your high energy and your commitment to excellence in nursing practice.'

As a condition of employment, Faculty and Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete NSCC’s Community College Education Diploma Program (CCEDP). CCEDP is a two-year diploma that provides a foundation in adult education principles. CCEDP is a significant investment of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Faculty and Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete CCEDP within their probationary period. Term full-time Faculty who are employed for twelve or more months are also required to participate in CCEDP.
