What you’ll be doing…
As a member of the Trades and Technology faculty team, you will deliver curriculum in the Pipefitting program including Pre-apprenticeship Apprenticeship, Customized (including Marine Manufacturing), and Continuing Education to provide students with the knowledge and skills required for employment. You will perform theoretical and practical instructional responsibilities including preparation, instruction, evaluation, assessment, supervision, consultation, academic and career advisement as well as related professional responsibilities including, but not limited to, participating on committees, marketing, developing program and curriculum, establishing work placement qualifications, monitoring work placements, liaising with business and industry, and representing the College.You will provide leadership to ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in your shops and labs.

Minimum qualifications: • You possess Interprovincial Journeyperson Certification as a Pipefitter
Minimum experience: • You have a minimum of five years occupational experience in the industry, or recognized equivalencies. NOTE: Two years of your training will be counted towards the educational requirements and cannot be included as part of your occupational experience.
Minimum skills and ability: • You have safety training including WHMIS, OH&S, Fall Arrest and Confined Space. • You have the related computer skills using MS Office applications and the internet. • You are familiar with Portfolio Education and adult education principles. • You are innovative and committed to life-long learning. • Your desire and enthusiasm to teach students with diverse backgrounds and knowledge, along with your superb presentation, interpersonal, and team building skills, make you an ideal candidate. • Previous course development and teaching experience at college level would be considered an asset. • Previous marine manufacturing experience would be considered an asset.
As a condition of employment, Faculty and Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete NSCC’s Community College Education Diploma Program (CCEDP). CCEDP is a two-year diploma that provides a foundation in adult education principles. CCEDP is a significant investment of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Faculty and Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete CCEDP within their probationary period. Term full-time Faculty who are employed for twelve or more months are also required to participate in CCEDP.
