Computer Resume
- Create a computer version of your handwritten
resume and cover letter
- Learn how to edit and save your resume and cover
letter to a disk (in a generic format for emailing
purposes)

WORKPLACE COMMUNICATIONS
(3.0 hours)
Exploration/awareness of effective communications
in the workplace:
- Recognizing your own behaviour/role in dealing
effectively with difficult situations
- Recognizing disadvantages of averting problems
or dealing with them in a negative way.
- Knowing the importance of understanding yourself/others;
taking responsibility
- Developing basic communication skills/strategies
to overcome issues in the
workplace; tools for Assertiveness, Conflict Resolution,
and Problem Solving
Career Planning
Workshop - 4 Part Workshop
You will have the opportunity to become more
aware of your personal strengths, interests, abilities,
work values and skills, as well as work preferences.
In the Career Planning Workshop Series, you will
become more knowledgeable about how education
and employment trends in the workplace can help
you make informed life/work decisions and create
an action plan to reach your career goals.
What's in Your
Briefcase (6 hrs)
Now that you have participated in the Opportunity
Place Workshop/Activities, is your briefcase packed
and ready with the tools you need to conduct an
effective job search? This workshop will assist
you in putting together the tools that best assist
you in marketing yourself to employers.
Essential Employment
Skills - 2 Part Workshop
* Participants
must complete part 1 prior to registering for
part 2.
Do you have the skills you need to enter in and
progress in the world of work? Learn more about
the personal skills, attitudes and behaviours
that are needed to contribute productively in
today's work environment.
Interviews with
Impact (3 hrs)
Behavioural interviewing techniques and situational
interview questions seek details on you past performance
and abillities. This type of interview is being
conducted more frequently than in the past. Are
you preapred? How do you rate? Learn how to respond
with confidence while effectively marketing your
abilities.
MANAGING CHANGE
(3 hours)
Information related to unemployment - change
issues, change and stress sources, response to
stressors, stress management tools, preparing
for change (past, present, future). Positive strategies
to cope with employment changes
Although all workshops are separate sessions,
and can be attended as required, we strongly suggest
participation in all, as information is closely
linked from one to the other.

will be available only to those who have a well
thought through return to work action plan.
